The Drama of a Crystal-Coated Garden: Mid-Winter Ice Storm Beauty …

Sunrise moments after an ice storm are always beautiful here on my Vermont hilltop. But the subtle drama of the storm itself —freezing rain, fog and mist— are equally compelling; pulling me like a siren song from the cozy warmth of my studio. And although it took an effort to walk through the garden pathways in such slippery conditions, the surprises I found round each and every corner made the chilly, wet excursion more than worthwhile …

“…Can Almost Hear the Cold-Hearted Cry of this Ice-Burdened Crow.”
Well, that answers that question: whether you bring him/them in for the winter, that is.
Much as I love the crystalline beauty of an ice-wrapped landscape, I HATE dealing with the aftermath…
Speaking of which, have you heard any word on how much longer this bizarre “winter” weather is going to last? xo D

Dear Petra, Elin, Deb, Cindy, Nancy, Susan and Anne – Thank you so much for the wonderful comments and feedback. I’ve been struggling with yet another winter illness, and I apologize for my slow response. Funny how a gal can go ten years without so much as a sniffle, and then be laid low for an entire season! I appreciate that you are still here with me, sending along sweet words of encouragement … xo Michaela
