Hints of the Coming Season – Virginia Creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia) along the Green River
September… Still summer. Some days so hot and humid that the only relief is a trip to Green River. The water is low and the smooth rocks are hot beneath bare feet. I slip along the bank; verdant moss, flickering light and a blurred mosaic of algae-coated stones and silver fish. Still summer… But with hints of the coming season; crimson-tinted vines, gold-tipped ferns, and a surprise of blue asters amongst the greenery…

Aaah, the water felt so cool even though it was hard to wade barefoot on the rocks. Very refreshing post. Thanks. The last photo is stunning.
The woozy trees photo seems like excellent inspiration for a painting. :-)
